So What's Up With the Traffic Mess at HW 27 and SR 50?

Two weeks ago, the Hooks Street extension opened with little fanfare. Last week, a new "exit" turn-off was opened for those traveling north on HW 27 wanting to go east on SR 50. This was constructed as part of an overall two year, 30 million dollar project to improve the interchange between these two state and federally controlled roads.

I am working with staff to plan a Town Hall meeting for economic development. The meeting will focus on the South Lake County area including Montverde, Clermont, Minneola, Mascotte and Groveland.
EOC/Communications Center – The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

On February 28th, the BCC approved an $8.6 million emergency communications and operations center. The vote was 5 to 0.
The Emergency Operations Center (EOC)/Communications Center will serve as the central dispatching unit for public safety in Lake County, house public safety offices and an Emergency Operations Center. The facility will also house a training room and central traffic monitoring facility.

This is very impactful news that has gone largely unreported. It presents an opportunity for Lake County to be a leader in water supply planning.
Lake County officials sat down in February to discuss the future of water supply in South Lake County. Some might say this was already attempted - the water alliance which died on the vine a few years ago.
